Old man and the sea
When Santiago is in the boat, he says,“This far out he must be huge this month! Eat them fish, eat them” (41).
There were many reasons that he said this but the biggest reason is to give the reader a hint on how big the fish is. It is also to make you get your hopes up high for the old man to show your joy for him that he finally caught a fish. This shows how knowledgeable the old man is because he knows how far out he could be and how big the fish is that far out and what month the fish would be biggest. This also can show that he knows his way around the sea which especially shows how experienced of a fisher he is. Many symbols are in this book, For example when he goes out this far, it shows how willing the old man was to catch a big fish. He was very committed to catching this one fish that he cut all of his other lines. |
This project was one of my favorite because I loved the story, grit, and courage of Santiago. Ernest Hemingway is an author that seems very straight forward, but really is one of the deepest thinking authors today. At the same time it was a great story with a queso boat in the end!
